What is theta fuel (TFUEL)?
Theta Fuel (TFUEL) is one of two native tokens on the Theta blockchain. In addition to TFUEL, Theta Token (THETA) is the other native token on its blockchain. TFUEL is the second native token on the Theta blockchain to serve as the utility token in decentralized video and data delivery. In addition, TFUEL also acts as a gas token. TFUEL is used to enable operations on the Theta blockchain. This includes payments to relayers for sharing a video stream, for implementing (and interacting with) smart contracts, and as fees for handling NTFs and DeFi applications.
The use case of Theta
The use case of Theta Fuel is relevant not only to TFUEL but to the entire Theta ecosystem. Theta's use case is to decentralize video streaming, data delivery and edge computing. By decentralizing this, the entire process becomes more efficient, cheaper and more fair for the participants. The network runs on a native blockchain, which means that Theta has built its own blockchain and therefore does not use, for example, the Ethereum network. Within the Theta ecosystem, there are two native tokens, known as Theta (THETA) and Theta Fuel (TFUEL), that power the internal economy. The platform is open source and the token holders are given governance privileges as with most proof-of-stake (PoS) based blockchain ecosystems. In addition to video, data and computing, Theta is targeting developers who want to launch decentralized applications (DApps) such as DeFi and NFTs on its fully featured EVM compatible smart contract platform
