What is Optimism?
Optimism is a layer 2 chain, meaning it functions on top of the Ethereum mainnet (layer 1). Transactions take place on the Optimism network, transaction data is displayed at: https://optimistic.etherscan.io/.
Optimism is powered by a technology called Optimistic rollups, which bundles large amounts of transaction data into more digestible batches. Optimism is therefore cheaper to use and faster in terms of transaction processing than Ethereum and is therefore becoming increasingly popular.
Optimism's native token is Optimism or OP.
